Stranger Things ending: Is Eleven alive according to Caleb McLaughlin?

While attending a fan convention, Caleb McLaughlin shared his thoughts on the ending of Stranger Things and the fate of Eleven.

Since its debut on Netflix, Stranger Things has established itself as a cornerstone of pop culture. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the series follows a group of teenagers confronted with supernatural events in the town of Hawkins.

Among them, Lucas Sinclair, played by Caleb McLaughlin, has been present since the very first season. Over the course of the episodes, his character has gained depth. During the panel at Stranger Fanmeet 9 in Paris, Caleb McLaughlin gave his interpretation of the series ending, addressing Eleven’s fate:

“When people ask me if Eleven is still alive at the end of the series, I’d say that, in my opinion, Lucas holds on to the hope that she is still alive. But in reality… I’d say no! I think Eleven’s storyline ended that day. And I’m really sorry. But hey, I didn’t write the script!”

This statement highlights the interpretative freedom left by certain series finales. Caleb McLaughlin also makes it clear that this is only his personal opinion. And not an official confirmation of the storyline. Eleven’s fate remains a central topic for Stranger Things fans, as her character has been essential to the plot since season 1.

Caleb McLaughlin satisfied with Lucas’s journey

The actor also spoke about the ending given to his own character:

“As for the ending given to my character, I’d say I’m very happy with how Lucas’s story ends. I’ve been very happy to be part of this series and to have been able to explore this character so much. I couldn’t have asked for more. I was just happy to bring Lucas’s journey to life. Especially since, in my opinion, he got a happy ending.”

These comments highlight the actor’s satisfaction with Lucas Sinclair’s evolution, whom he believes received a positive conclusion.
